Portfolio
Welcome to our portfolio. Digital Unleashed is a new company, so the following projects are representative of our team's previous work. Although very proud of past projects, we fully aim to improve upon the past with new levels of creativity and technical excellence.
Castlereagh College
Castlereagh College is one of the major learning institutes in Northern Ireland. Working in concert with a graphic designer, we redesigned this website from the ground up, working out appropriate new features, usability issues, etc.
Our revamped design was one of the first in Northern Ireland to offer advanced features such as a fully searchable online database of courses. The site also featured Student Services and Business Services sections, a dynamic news and events system, and much more. Of course, all of this had to be easy to update, and to ensure this, we included a complete web-based content management system for the college faculty.
MaxRPM
When we first saw MaxRPM, it was a very informative, but unprofessional website providing news for the motorcycle racing community within Northern Ireland. As the official website of a local racing body, with many exclusive stories on local events, it had a lot of potential, but simply wasn't living up to it for various reasons.
In talks with the client and further analysis of the website, we identified a number of problems, ranging from simple broken images and a poor color scheme to more fundamental usability flaws such as layout inconsistencies and content that was impossible to find.
We knew MaxRPM could be great. As such, we encouraged our client to make some more effort, and we voluntarily worked longer hours on the project ourselves. When we were done, MaxRPM was an entirely new site: besides the basic news etc., it had an entensive database about everything in the Northern Ireland motorbike racing scene. This included photos, videos, racetrack routes, rider details, and much more. Each simply created new article would automatically link all of this together, making the even a basic news entry highly valuable as a way to encourage readers to explore the site more fully. Obviously, the added value of so much extra information greatly increased the "stickiness" of the site, which is widely regarded as the most important measurement of a website's success.
In a few short months, use of the site skyrocketed, and the owners found themselves warmly welcomed by large-scale advertising organisations who would previously have had no interest in them. Soon after, the site also won special mention in national UK E-Commerce Awards, despite being slightly unsuitable for the category it was submitted to.
Eyeconnect
eyeconnect, though long gone in the dot-com crash, was one of the first organisations to specifically focus on streaming media (also known as webcasting).
As an integral part of eyeconnect, members of our team worked daily with demanding online video streaming, radio streaming, and live broadcasting of high-profile events from remote locations such as racetracks. We worked with multi-million dollar property developers, broadcasting the building progress of their new buildings to companies around the world who might want to rent office space within.
We also liased with film producers, produced multimedia CDs, provided consultation to mainstream news organisations, maintained a global network of computers, and assisted web developers with integrating our broadcasting technology into their websites.
Cinemagic
Cinemagic is the Belfast City Children's Film Festival. It is a charitable organisation that helps young people children to embrace their creativity, hosting workshops in film production, showcasing international and local movies, etc. We were happy to help them on a voluntary basis.
After detailed discussions with the Cinemagic team about their requirements, we built them a highly visual website including 3d animated Cinemagic logo, online news, film schedule, and secure box office system for ticket sales.
Larne Borough Council
When Larne Borough Council approached us for development of a new website, we welcomed the opportunity to represent the local council and surrounding area online. Although we had almost finished the site after a few weeks, and the council was ready to take delivery, we were convinced we could do even better.
Instead, we started from scratch, drawing upon Larne's deep history as a major port, and created a new site with a shipping and navigational motif. The final site had a beautifully rich design, incorporating compasses for navigation and watery edges to images. All the while, we made sure that the usability of advanced features such as a database of local businesses was enhanced by our unique design rather than overlooked in favor of it.
Please also have a look at our Giving Back section for some other examples of our work.
